9 dead, 13 injured after multiple cars crash on Ahmedabad’s Iskcon flyover
Gujarat government has given Rs 4 lakh to families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to those injured, according to CM Bhupendra Patel.
Nine persons, including two police constables, a home guard jawan and men aged between 18 years and 21 years, were killed when a speeding Jaguar car hit them at the site of an accident on the ISKCON flyover in Ahmedabad after midnight on Wednesday, dragging them for about 120 feet.
The driver of the Jaguar, Tathya Patel (19), was beaten up by people who had gathered on the bridge. He was arrested late Thursday along with his father Pragnesh Patel (44), said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic, West) Neetaben Desai.
Tathya was travelling with his friends whom the police are trying to trace. The police closed a part of the flyover for investigations and conducted a reconstruction of the crime scene late evening with the father and son.
